Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Roomsies helps two people work through a conflict with the help of an AI mediator. Because you may share sensitive personal details, we want to be clear and honest about what we collect and how it is handled.

This Privacy Policy explains how Martin Gottweis("Roomsies", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Roomsies website and service (the "Service"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

The short version

  • We collect the messages you send to the mediator, an optional email address, and basic technical data. We do not require an account, a name, or a phone number.
  • Your private messages to the mediator are never shown to the other person. Only the neutral statements the AI chooses to relay cross between the two sides.
  • We use trusted third parties to run the Service: an AI provider (Anthropic), a database host (Neon), an email provider (Resend), and a hosting platform (Vercel).
  • We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time through our contact page.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Conversation content. The messages you type to the mediator, including anything you choose to share about your situation. This may include sensitive personal information.
  • Email address (optional). If you choose to be notified when the other person responds, we store the email address you provide.
  • Contact submissions. If you use our contact page, we store your message and, if you provide it, your email address.

Information collected automatically

  • Conversation identifiers. Each participant is assigned a short, random code that forms the private link to their chat. This link is the only key to the conversation, so keep it private.
  • Technical and log data. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process limited technical data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.

We do not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising technologies. See the Cookie Notice for details.

How we use information

  • To operate the mediation: understand your situation, maintain a shared context, and relay neutral statements between the two sides.
  • To generate AI responses and summaries on your behalf.
  • To send you notification emails, if you provided an email address.
  • To respond to messages you send us through the contact page.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

How your messages move between people

Roomsies practices "shuttle diplomacy". You speak privately with the AI mediator. The other participant never receives your raw messages. Only statements that the AI writes and chooses to relay are shared with the other side. Please still use good judgment about what you share, since relayed statements and shared summaries reflect the substance of the conversation.

Service providers (processors) we share data with

To run the Service, your data is processed by:

  • Anthropic- the AI provider. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the mediator's responses. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • Neon - the database host where conversations are stored.
  • Resend - the email provider used to send notifications.
  • Vercel - the platform that hosts and serves the Service.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security practices. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

International data transfers

Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed outside your home country.

Data retention

Roomsies is an early-stage product. We keep conversation data for as long as needed to provide the Service, and delete it on request. You can ask us to delete a conversation or your contact submissions at any time through our contact page. Backups and provider logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.

Legal bases (EU/UK - GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on:

  • Performance of a contract - to provide the mediation service you request.
  • Consent - for optional email notifications; you can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests - to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse, balanced against your rights.

Your rights

EU/UK residents

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents

Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

To exercise any of these rights, reach us through the contact page. We may need to verify your request, which for an anonymous conversation typically means access to the private conversation link.

Security

Access to a conversation is controlled by its private link. We use reputable infrastructure providers and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and the private link is the key to your conversation - anyone who has it can view that side of the conversation, so share it carefully.

Children

The Service is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 16 and older (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the Service, contact us and we will delete the data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
